Power steering pump replacement
2004 Discovery SE7
I found this video of a pump replacement and wanted to be sure that it would work for my 2004. What do you think?
It looks pretty straightforward and I have found a pump within 20 miles of my house.

Thats pretty much it. Some things I found when i did mine about a week ago: if you can get the fan off easily, it will make things easier. Break loose the pulley bults before you remove the belt. My bracket that the pump mounts in did not just pop right off. it took a little carefull prying. (dont think it was ever off)
I tried to pull my PS pump out to rebuild it and had no luck because the fan wouldn't come loose. I couldn't get the bracket off the stud with the fan in the way. I don't like the idea of cutting it like the guy in the video did. Besides, my fan clutch seems a little loose so I'm going to need to get it off anyway.
I didn't watch the whole video so I'm not sure if he goes through bleeding the system but I read in a post about someone running a hose from the nipple on the steering box up into the reservoir which sounds like a great idea. That way you can keep turning the wheel without worrying about running out of fluid.

Just finished up! It worked pretty much exactly as the video described. The replacement pump used a different pulley back. It had one nut holding the pulley on. Was one of the easiest PS pump replacements I've ever done.
