Default Power Steering Pump reseal question

I bought the reseal kit for my 01 Disco II ps pump and did the work. Once I got the pump back together, it was more difficult to spin the pump by hand. I would assume this is normal as there was no grinding or binding, it was just more difficult to turn. Any comments from those with experience?

Make sure the shaft was seated all the way in the housing. I had trouble with my reseal attempt and ended up cracking the rear cover when I tightened the bolts.

Mine was also difficult to turn. I mean it offered resistance, but in a smooth consistent way. And when I say resistance, I could still easily turn it by hand. It's been doing fine for two years now.

Default Pump finally back in and wallah - no power assist

Got the resealed pump back in the ride, started it up, bled the system by turning the wheel back and forth, and the power assist did not appear. The PS reservoir is full and there is fluid swirling inside, but still no power assist at the wheel. Any suggestions on what to try with the pump still installed? Any suggestions on what to look for if I take the pump out and open it up? Thanks.

What did the pump do before you resealed it? Just leak? No power assist? If your fluid is bouncing inside the reservoir, I would think your pump is pumping. It's possible that your filter in the reservoir is clogged, not allowing circulation? Or you just have air and your not bleeding it correctly. Who knows...
