Pentosin Pentofrost SF (pink) for me too. You can get it at Rock Auto.

Hey Brandon, just wondering if you're using Zerex G48? Do you aim for a 50/50 mixture? I'm in a similar climate here. I help with a relative's E46, so I wouldn't mind using a coolant that can be used in both vehicles, but I really prefer to use whatever is safest for the engine and hopefully lasts a long time, rather than whatever is easiest for me.

Prestone. Don't overcomplicate this.

Climate is irrelevant. 50/50

I use BMW's actual coolant. It's surprisingly about the same price as any other coolant and concentrated. So yes, 50/50 with distilled of course. Prestone works great too. I used to be deep in the BMW M world (E46/E39/E36/E30/E28) before leaving the brand for Land Rover, and BMW's coolant (re-boxed Zerex) works extremely well with aluminum components. Also, its blue color makes spotting leaks really easy, for me at least. It dries to a super bright bright blue that stands out really well.

I use Zerex Asian(Toyota) in both the Rover and my Tacoma. The key is a clean flush and don't let any dimwits do a "Courtesy Check" or" top off your fluids"

Folks, what about running distilled water + water wetter or equivalent? I know it may not be appropriate for NC winters, but what's wrong with running that combo during warm months?

As far as cooling, there's nothing wrong with running water. But, among other things, antifreeze inhibits cooling system corrosion, so that's why I personally would not run straight water (even with water wetter). And of course antifreeze raises the boiling point of the coolant as well as lowering the freezing point, but that shouldn't matter much in a pressurized system running at "normal" operating temps.

Interesting... I thought Water Wetter inhibited corrosion. Btw, all my buddies who track cars or bikes use water wetter + water combo. Interesting read: https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/do...ocID=TECH00010

Same here. Zerex Asian (red in color) easy to source and works.
