Im having the same knarled sound when Im driving at higher speeds. But I have a vibration is going on as well. My hope is that I need new tires. Because it happens only at certain speeds. Does that sound plausable or is it a wheel hub or worse? I have a 04 Discovery 2.
First go to an auto zone or if you have an ob reader use that so you can pinpoint what is actually wrong. It could be a misfire in another cylinder which is causing that vibration or it could just be your tires. Due that and then see where you get, good luck.
