No problems w/ps and no leaks prior to starting truck in 15 degree weather one morning. Heard a whine upon ignition, turned wheel a bit and whine was louder and tight. Resevoir was full, whirlpooling, but a tad frothy/foamy. When turned truck off, it began to drip. The resevoir hose that connects to bottom of pump collects the fluid at the bend, and that is where the drip comes from. Tied a rag above the bend in hose to see if drip coming from above and running down the hose - -(drip at bend in hose stopped) so appears that leak coming from connection to pump, right? What are chances it is the pump itself - cant see dripping/seeping from pump itself? Would a cold start damage the hose/connection rapidly like that, and could the pump break from a cold start? Again had no issues, sounds, leaks, tightness in PS until that cold morning start.

 

Have you cleaned the area up and used an inspection mirror to look?

What PAS oil/fluid are you using?

 

I recently replaced my PAS pump. I was thinking the hoses were leaking based on the amount of gunk they had accumulated, but I replaced the pump with a reman from Rock Auto and cleaned the hoses. No more leaks.

I would suggest really cleaning the hoses to make sure they're leaking before you replace them.

 

Could be an o-ring.
