Sitting on the side of the road, purge valve in hand. Where is it located on 2001 Land Rover Discovery II? I cannot locate it.

Ummm, unclip the old one and install the new one. There should be two hoses and one electrical connection.
The LR part number for the whole assembly is WTV000060 but there are Dorman and Hyundai versions that are exact replacements for just the valve unit that are much cheaper.

 

This is on a P38, but very similar. Thought I send it your way since you need a quick reference. Be careful with popping out the U clip to the connector and don't lose it in the engine bay:

 

 

Ummm, I have the part in hand, and should have asked where it is located.

 

I watched this video before I went to replace it. I have a 2001 Discovery II, it is not located where shown in this video.

 

It's located on the driver's side valve cover on both my 1999 and 2003 D2s. I don't know where else it could be because the electrical connection isn't really long enough for it to be placed anywhere else.

 

Will you take a picture please? Is it inside a canister?

 

It looks exactly the same as in that video. It clips into a metal bracket that is bolted to the valve cover.
Not sure that I can get out to take a photo but you can see the assembly starting at about 4:10 in this video:
