Default Putting a 4.0 in my '04

I bought a 2002 yesterday with a 140k (km) on it and i am gonna put it in my 04. No misfires, sounds great.
Only problem is no sai while our 04 does. I know people will say swap the heads, and put new gaskets on but i would rather not touch it and just put it in.

What is the worst that will happen? Engine codes?
I can live with codes.

Edit: We do not have emissions tests here.

yeah if you don't need the sai......do away with it
there is a write up on here I think
edit maybe not, but it looks like a new ecu will fix the code issue

Youre going to have to do do the head gaskets at some time, much easier on the floor than under a hood

Sure, but what if you break or strip a head bolt? or have to plane a head? Where do you stop? Check the bearings?

Idk, it runs good, think I'll just put it in and pray.

I agree. Doing the heads out of the car is heaven. I bet it takes half the time than it would in the car. The first head gasket job I did was out of the car and the whole time I was wondering why everyone says it is a pain!

So I noticed in your sig that you have an 04 with a 4.0l. Did you do the swap? Is the wiring harness all the same? Did they both have sai?

Any info or tips would be appreciated.

Both were SAI equipped. I have to admit that I did not do the swap, a local mechanic did. I was there for a day and it was a direct plug and play swap.

Putting an SAI motor in a non SAI car would be easier I would think(just plug the ports)If it were me I would put the SAI heads on and make it a plug and play swap. That is the only difference in the motor.

Agreed, kind of. You will have connectors on your harness which are not plugged in.

So, had it running today and out for a test drive. Seems to run great, no codes so far.
