will this work for the factory glass? my rear quarter window is broken. so pretty much just glue it in place?

 

What did you ultimately do for this repair. I have the same vehicle and the safari window seal just started leaking.

 

I've been looking for a professional to pull the rear glass and it seems like unless it's a windshield nobody wants to do it.

 

I just had the roof of my D2 repainted. And had the alpine glass removed for paint - I asked for replacement seals to reinstall the windows.

the new gasket looks factory- it’s not silicone & I couldn’t find or source a gasket. The auto body shop says the glass company had sourced the same style of window gasket seal that Rover used when glass installed in factory.

my rear quarter glass didn’t pass leak test when the tested alpine- I would have to remove the quarter glass to replace the seal which is set in with window. Someone on this forum did a thread with photos of masking off the window and using an RTV silicone sealant to reseal from exterior. He did have to excavate all the seal you could get at from outside before filling with silicone.

 

I saw that video but my research indicates that it isn't always effective at keeping water out.
