Question on flushing the radiator
Ok, I'm all set to flush my cooling system. I have a new correct 180 d thermostat, several new hoses and hose clamps, distilled water and Peak AF.
I'd suggest this is a dumb question but with a LR Discovery and the often times strange LR engineering no questions are dumb! Unlike most cars I have owned the lower hose to the radiator enters about 5 inches up from the bottom. So if you remove it to drain the system you only drop what is above that point. How do you get a decent flush and furthermore a back flush of the radiator if it is only moving water through the upper 2/3s?
Would it be prudent to disconnect all the radiator hoses and remove said object and turn it sideways to properly purge sediment and really flush it out?

I would first see if you have cool or cold spots on the radiator when it is hot. If you due replace the radiator. Also if the radiator has never been change, I would replace it anyway to protect the new engine.
Yes, I guess it's about 3 inches up instead of 5 for the lower hose but it just seems like if sediment with the OAT coolant is such an issue and I am making the switch to the green stuff I'd like to think I really cleaned the sediment out.
I ended up just flushing the block and radiator (without removing). I only have about 30K on the engine and maybe 20K on the radiator. After flushing with the garden hose I reinstalled hoses and the thermostat and filled the system with distilled water. I plan to drive it for a couple of days and run the heater and then flush again before finishing the coolant swap with new Peak AF.
Decided to change the serpentine belt as well since all the hoses were off.
