Default Question on Greasing Drive Shaft

Hey everyone, new here but been reading everything vigorously since I became the owner of a 165k mile ‘04 D2 one month ago.

greasing my front shaft; greased all fittings and on one of the bearings of the double U closest to the transfer case I could not get any old grease to release and pump out. I have tried twice now. This car must have a non factory shaft as it has all the grease fittings, but I dont know how old it is as the previous owner did not install the shaft (or grease it).

Is there a way to try to dissolve the crusty old grease and reapply? Or should I be considering pulling it for a rebuild?

thank you!

Try a shop, thier grease guns can put out more pressure and may be able to move the old grease.

I would pull it out and try lubing it on your workbench so you can check all the u-joints and if things don't look kosher take it down to your local gear & driveline shop for a rebuild.

If you take the drive shaft out you can wiggle the U-joints while pumping grease in.

You can also tap on the caps with a hammer while pumping to try and get the old grease to move. Easiest to do off the truck but I've done it for stubborn joints in the truck as well.
