Quick Fix for Cam Shaft Seal Leak?
Hi guys! I'm wondering if anyone has a "quick-fix" for a front seal leak?
Here's the story: I had a used motor installed a couple of months ago, and everything has been going okay until yesterday, when I pulled out of the garage and the floor looked like someone viciously murdered a quart of oil. Given the mess, it made sense that wherever the leak was coming from, it was being thrown around, and I traced it back to the crankshaft/front seal. I've reached out to the garage to make sure the repair is covered under the motor's warranty, but the garage is 100 miles away, up by my place in the mountains. I know this is a fairly easy DIY/cheap repair, but I'd rather have the shop make it right, as he supposedly went through this motor with a fine tooth comb. So... I'm wondering if anyone has a quick-fix that will let me make the trek up there without loosing all my oil in the process. I suppose I could keep pulling over and adding as needed, but it doesn't help the fire hazard of oil spraying all over my engine compartment. Any ideas? Or should I just do the repair?
Thanks! Nick

Sorry, but there is NO quick fix for a crankshaft seal leak.
IF this repair is covered under the warranty either have the shop pick it up or have it towed in. If this thing is leaking 1 quart overnight (and that's a crazy amount for a crank seal) you WILL NOT make a 100 mile drive.
Or, and if you want to void any future warranty coverage, replace the crankshaft seal yourself. Did the shop give you anything in writing as to what was replaced (ie: seals, head gaskets, etc) and actually covered other than "R&R used motor"? If all they did was R&R the motor, good luck getting them to honor any warranty. But any honest shop would pick this truck up in a minute, 100 miles away or not.
If they won't pay for the tow, and you won't tow it in ... IMHO I'd just fix it. If you do get a proper CORTECO Crankshaft Seal #ERR6490G > https://www.lucky8llc.com/products/f...seal-corteco-4
Post up some pics of where this thing leaking if you can.
