Default Quick help please RE bleed screw

I replaced my water pump but I have the old upper hose with the bleed screw molded in above the rad. I am wondering if there was a nut on the inside of the hose or if the hose just had threads casted that the screw went into? I am just worried that if there is a piece inside that it is now floating in my cooling system and will destroy my new pump, help please.

No nut under the plastic bleed screw... Also you can get new bleed screws at a BMW dealer...always a good idea to have a few spares as they love to break if you even look at them sideways.

You can get the BMW bleeder screws in plastic or brass. I ma waiting for my brass one to arrive. I ordered it off eBay for under $9 shipped.

He's got the old style hose, so none of this ^^^^ really applies, until he replaces it.

I wouldn't worry about a chuck of plastic getting into the radiator, just replace the hose with the new style and you should be good to go.

My bleed screw has started weeping. It looks like the plastic has started to degrade on the inside, and micro cracks are letting coolant through.

I'm happy to have a bleed screw, I know others don't want it.

Is there a replacement from AZ or AAP in metal, or is it an online order?

X1 the brass are good and don't strip or break like the plastic screws but ensure you fit them with high melting point silicon grease (brake caliper grease is good) otherwise they seize up with corrosion.

Great. My screw just sheared.

Anyone know if this will fit?

Dorman/Coolant Air Bleeder Screw 902-404 at AutoZone.com Looks like my original. AZ website says it doesnt, but that's not always the case. Also says it does fit BMW, so that looks promising.

Means I can quickly get it plugged tomorrow, while I find a brass one.

You can also go to your local BMW dealer and buy it. I paid about 3.50 for the two I last picked up there.
