Mike I did not put a new screw in an old style it was the new style. and I replaced the whole assembly as a matter of simple maintainence of making all hoses new.

Just thought I'd toss this in there. When I replaced my old style hose with the new one after the bleeder screw broke, I heard something rattling around in the hose. It was the piece where the bleeder screw actually threads into the hose, it looked like a small piece of bakelite. Anyway, without the screw holding it into the hose, it fell into the hose. No big deal because I found it but I imagine it would not have been good to have that rattling around the coolant system. So, probably an unlikely thing to happen but worth checking, I think.

Speaking of old style hoses.... Do you know what's silly? you cannot buy the new style bleeder from land rover, but you can still buy the old bleeder.

Ha. They're probably trying to purge their old inventory.

I decided to go with the updated hose assembly, because why not?I'm not going to play games with the cooling system in this ticking time bomb for a matter of saving $50 bucks. It was an easy decision for me.

Plus, it gave me something to do for 15 minutes the other night.

Yeah. I already had the new style, but the bleeder screw broke. That was what I was sent when I ordered the bleeder, before I knew what I was doing.
