Rattle from air intake AAAAAGH annoying
My Discovery has developed a loud and very annoying rattle at certain mid revs from the air intake that runs from the engine to the left wing and the rattle seems to be the part that's in the double skinned wing. Is this a common problem and how's the best way to solve it (apart from turning the stereo up)?
Thought it was the diff or something at first but seeing as it also does it out of gear told me it wasn't that. I ended up following the noise manually until I ended up at the air intake on the left of the engine and followed it to the wing where the noise is noticablt louder.
It's ok at high revs zooming along the motorway and it's ok at low revs plodding along but at mid revs especially when accelerating it kicks in and it's loud.
Could something have come loose and if so waht and how best to rectify it?

Does this help? It's a pic of the air intake? I think the bit that's rattling is the bit that goes to the right through the side panel.

Looking at your picture, it is possible that where that snorkel goes through the inner fender it is contacting some sheet metal and causing the noise. First check that grommet I see in the picture ---to make sure it is still isolating the snorkel all the way around. Then get a flashlight and look up inside the fender from outside the vehicle---and above the tire---to see if there is any evidence of the snorkel trumpet coming into contact with another metal structural piece.
That's my best guess.
