Default Reading Codes in my D2

Can I read codes on my 01' with a standard OBDII reader? Or do I need something specific to read rovers?

Why wouldn't you just plug it in and find out on your own?

(...and yes, it will work)

Yes, the OBDII port works as it does in any other vehicle after about 96. The engine codes will be waiting on you. Now there are other codes from other modules that you will need something else to read, like the air bag, cruise, ACE, SLABS, transmission, and BCU. The Hawkeye and Nanocom units come to mind for some of these. But if you seldom need anything other than engine codes the standard reader will do. A slick one is the Ultra Gauge, which is also a scanner, can display live data, and is about $70. For those on a budget, a trip to local parts store can usually get you a free code read. Some stores loan code readers.

Link to codes manual for the D2 https://www.cubby.com/pl/LR3+worksho...uter%20Manuals - you want the one marked "Bosch".

As soon as you get the fault code numbers, send them to us so we can help you.
How many miles on your engine and how is the engine running?

The engine is running quite well, but I have had a couple inconsistent rough starts lately. Not bad overall though. I just got done towing a small travel trailer on a road trip and my check engine light came on a few days later.

Would an ultragauge be able to clear codes as well? And.. more importantly, los tres amigos?

Si, it will clear engine codes. No, it does not handle The Amigos. May show some codes associated, but you need somthing different for that. The plus of the UG is that it will show live data , like coolant temp.

Most auto parts stores will read codes. Some are blocked from clearing them. Some stores loan/rent the OBDII readers that will reset codes, you would probably have to look around to find one that loaned a scanner.
