Default Rear Brake Lights...

Ok, I just noticed that my brake lights are not working on my 2000 Disco 2...I had a problem a few weeks ago where I was unable to get park, I was able to open the middle console and press the button that releases the shifter out of park. Other than that the brakes work fine as does everything else...I checked the fuses, nothing wrong, the running night lights for the front and back work...but the brakes nothing...so I heard it could be the brake "switch" or something else...what are the options and what is the cheapest easiest way for me to fix this...I am trying to sell my rover asap...please help

Go buy a new brake switch from the dealer, pretty cheap, easy to install and your only option.

Thanks Mike...came through again...but what do you mean by only option...? Other then the switch and maybe the wire what else could it be?? Does the solenoid under the shifter cover in the middle have anything to do with it, or is that related to the park brake being locked and not the actual brake lights not functioning...??
Thaanks again

Read My Lips, go buy a brake switch, this is a very very common issue with Rovers and a $25 switch will fix it.

The brake switch sends a signal to the solonoid to allow you to shift. If you have no brake lights and can't shift, then you need the brake switch.
