Default Rear Door Issue Disco '04

Good morning!

My rear door brace - which keeps it from opening too far is having an issue (see attached photo). I have been trying to research a fix with no success so far. There is a part missing and I am not sure what it is. What part is missing and/or is there another option to fix it - I'm sure there is although I am at a loss for creativity on it.

Thanks in advance for the thoughts and feedback.

There is supposed to be a circlip holding the limiting strap down. There should be a groove for it on the top of the metal thing sticking up.

Any chance I can get someone to post a pic of a good working example of that area for reference?

Thank You

I'll run up to NAPA today and see what I can come up with.

No dice at NAPA. Looks like I've got to contact Atlantic British.

I ended up having to order the clip from my LR dealer $4.00 but it will not stay on the post.

Seems to be a pretty common issue, I have yet to see anyone who has figured out how to replace the pin. Parts diagram shows a circlip both top and bottom but the bottom of the pin is inaccessible from any angle I've looked at it.

The top of the pin is worn away and there is no groove left to hold the clip as you've already figured out. Unless you can figure out a way to replace the pin your best option is probably to drill and tap threads into the pin and install a bolt into it as posted above by drowssap. I'm thinking this is the route I will go with mine when I get to it.
