rear hub options
Hello everyone. I did a little searching about rear hubs but didn't get a great answer. I know that oem is best but it will be a cold day in you know what before I pay 400 bucks for an oem unit. So my plan is to find a cheap unit with a good warranty that I can take advantage of when/if it goes. I have my eye on a unit from ebay thats 125 bucks and comes with a 10 year warranty. I pulled a blown Timken unit out so apparently its been replaced prior to my ownership but I thought Timken units were good??? It took me less than 30 mins to pull so changing them out here and there doesn't really worry me. Whos had experience with parts store/cheaper units like Duralast/Timken etc?? I could also go the junkyard route for about 40 bucks but that seems silly with all the miles the rigs have at the jyard.
heres the ebay link. I know its more than likely made in china but maybe it would last a couple years or at least 1, lol.

There have been a few guys that used that bearing, personally I don't buy Made in China bearings.
But the 10 year warranty is funny!

I'm sure you know this, but remember to replace the O rings (FTC4919) > O Ring Rear Hub D2 (FTC4919 Same Fit As Part # FTC4919 ) - Land Rover gaskets and seals from Atlantic British . I replace the axle nuts (CDU1534L) > Nut - Axle - Front & Rear (CDU1534L Same Fit As Part # CDU1534L ) - Land Rover hubs from Atlantic British as well, but it's your call. Good Luck!
The warranty is the only thing that has me leaning toward the cheaper hub. 70 bucks is pretty cheap though! since is quite easy to disassemble I'm more willing to roll the dice as well. I will replace the oring for sure! To bad that wasn't what the leak was but when you see grease you know what that means!

I've used three of the cheapest hubs I could find on eBay. One was bad out of the box and they replaced it no questions asked. I haven't had any other issues at all. 10/10 would recommend.
