Default Rear main seal leak

Yesterday while I was under the vehicle I noticed a thin film of what looked like oil on some sort of black metal bar that seems to protect the transmission and/or transfer case (it's late, I'm tired and I can't think of what it's called). It doesn't look like ATF but is a honey color and seems like it's oil. I wiped it clean and tonight after driving home it was wet again. I'm not sure where this could be coming from. I have replaced all the head gaskets and re-sealed the transfer case with new gaskets so I'm pretty sure it's not that. Also did the seal between the t-case and the tranny. I checked the oil and it doesn't seem like it's down at all. I would absolutely hate to drop this tranny again to fix a rear main seal. Now that I think about it, I've also done the oil pan gasket too but I may recheck that. Any ideas?

I checked the oil again inside the garage on a level surface and it seems that the oil level is too high. It's about 1/4" or so above the full mark...could it be that too much oil in the engine caused a blown gasket?

You could be dumping excess engine oil if you just recently had it changed and it was overfilled. If you are unable to determine if it is engine oil, throw some oil dye in and track the leak.
