Default Rearview mirror removal?

OK...according to the RAVE it looks like the auto-dim rearview mirror on my '99 D2 should just slide down and come off. Is there some trick I'm missing here?

I don't want to whack it for fear of cracking the windscreen, but it sure doesn't seem to be moving otherwise...

I'm trying to replace it since it doesn't auto-dim any longer. From what I can see, there is no way to access the clamp holding the existing mirror in place. (The replacement appears to be identical to the one I'm removing.)

I do not know about the DII mirror, but the DI mirror you have to twist 90* and then pull it off.
You could always take it to a glass shop and have them take it off.

Default Success!

Thanks for all the input guys!

The rearview mirror removal for the DII is definitely different from the DI. No twisting was required, just firmly pulling the mount down toward the bottom of the windscreen along the contour of the glass.

I detached the overhead bins and pulled the light and sunroof switches so that I could more easily access the clip holding the mirror's connector. After a quick test to confirm that the 'new to me' mirror was functioning, I re-attached everything and

Thanks again!
