Default Rebuild or buy new

I have a 2003 Discovery with what I believe is a dropped sleeve. Is it better to rebuild or buy a new short block. Any recomendations on where to find a shortblock or a contact of someone who can rebuild.

It would cost you over $3000 plus shipping to remove that engine, send it to one of only a few engine shops in the US, have it resleeved, sent back and reinstalled. Then you could continue the rebuilding process.
A lot cheaper to install a guaranteed used engine.
Either way it not cheap.

check LKQ they have great deals on used engines. You just have to find a good shop to replace it. I have check with my shop on this issue they said that this would be a 12 hour job but I have also heard that it's a 7 to 8 hrs.. Ask DiscoMike . He has help me allot on in talking to shops about how many shop hrs it takes for each job. Good luck ..

Sure for $3000 give or take and then the rebuild when reinstalled, it is not worth it.

You are going to have to call around and get pricing.
