Humm. I really like the idea of telling mechanics not to use air tools on them. I think that will be my new norm.

You gonna stand over him as he works? Let's see how far that gets you.

I get it, I have cursed and been pissedd because the *** hat before me tightened my lugs with an Air gun. Do I use an air gun on my lugs, yes. I do. but I don't break them free or torque with an air gun. You break the free by hand and torque by hand, and you won't have problems. I dont, and I switch out my wheels twice a year.

You don't have to stand over them, you just tell them that if they damage the nuts they will be buying replacements. A Tire Kingdom near me ended up buying me a full set of 20 several years ago and it hasn't been a problem since.

I always used to use the spider thing. My nuts always only ever got as tight as I could with that, with two hands.

For about ten years after that I've only really had the standard tire wrench. About 12" long. I always just stand on it to tighten, stand on it to loosen.

I've had about 15-20 vehicles in 24 years of driving and not had a single lug nut be any looser after I tightened it up, or any problem at all. I think only once did I have an issue with a lug nut that needed a long bar to free it, after a shop whizzed them on.

I'm wondering what lb is a standard man, standing on a standard 1ft nut spanner? If about 105 is recommended.

Depends on your weight, since you say 1 foot long bar, so if you R 105lbs then you R right on .if U R 200lbs then it's almost twice!

What a very good point.

I'm about 165lb. So I could probably lean on the bar a bit less. Or I'll stand about 2/3 way down it...

Which is good to know.

Thumb up......

Default Replacement wheel nuts

I'm glad to see so many people have viewed this post. I've decided i "DO NOT" want to replace my wheel nuts with the standard rover lug nuts. I do not want to go through this again.

Your opinion would be appreciated here:

Do you think the Dorman AutoGrade - Wheel Lug Nut would be an appropriate replacement?

Part Number: 711-605
UPC: 19495266051
Chrome Wheel Nut
Chrome Upgrade Specialty
Chrome
Wheel Nut Chrome Acorn Bulge Seat M14-1.50, Hex 13/16 In., Length 1.385 In.
Hex Size: 13/16 Inch
Thread Size: M14X1.50

Perhaps someone might visit the Dorman website and let me know. I just need a suggestion for a replacement. I don't always trust website's and their suggestions. Don't want to find my replacement lug nuts rusted solid to my rim.

Thanks for any comments.

^ Those will not work. Look at the difference in the way the first two lugs seat to the wheel in the below picture from that ebay listing. The second illustration is an example of how the disco lugs work.

Thanks So the dorman # is wrong also as it is listed as an acorn bulde style. Maybe these are for steel wheels?
