Default Removing and refinishing wheel well plastic

Can anyone point me to some instructions for the removal of the plastic trim around the wheel wells 2004 Discovery. Mine is sun faded and damaged. I'm thinking I would like to sand it lightly to smooth it out and paint it.

Or is it more cost effective to just replace it?

Thanks

I did this a few months back. I took the flares off to do it. All I would add is finish up the sanding with some 1000 grit wet/dry and keep it wet. Paint finish comes out alot better.

I saw a pic here recently of our truck without the flares. I thought it looked really good. I'm considering that as a solution to my sun-worn flares. Also considering to axe the running boards... and headliner...
