Default repainting land rover on my hood

so I went to the car wash about a month ago and while I was trying to get the bugs off the front of the hood I took a couple little pieces of the letters off. I know AB sells new decals for about $50 but I was just wondering if anyone has tried spray painting those on? I was thinking about using some blue painters tape and carefully carving out the letters as best I can without damaging the surface of the hood, basically making a stencil. then taping off the whole area and painting it. anyone have any thoughts or suggestions about this on type of paint, color, good idea, bad idea, already done idea? (just seems a $5 can of paint would be a whole lot cheaper and a handmade stencil would be just as easy to apply)

Check the prices at Britishpartsof utah.
If you paint it, realize it will fade with time and use the new green tape for cleaner lines if you do paint it.

Spend the money for new ones, you can find them online for cheaper than $50.

Painted letters would come out too cheap looking IMO.

Check Ebay, I almost bought some last summer, but ended up buying something else. I think it was like $20 bucks plus shipping.

A sign shop can make a sticker for you, in any color you choose, as long as you can provide the graphic. Do a search and I'm sure you can find a SVG that can be sized appropriately.

How about a tiny mini roller with reflective paint! Just a thought. Mine are fading from all the detailing machines.
