Default Did it in less than 2 hours

Thanks for putting the process up. We had been dreading doing this to our 2002 disco for the last month and didn't want to pay someone $500 just to replace the plugs & wires. We ended up putting on the magnecor 8mm wires and bosch platinum +4 plugs and it only took us a hour and half!!!

The disco runs so much smoother now its incredible.

Thanks again!

You need to go out and open your hood for starters, To do this job, especially if you have SAI, you need to look at your engine and walk yourself thru what you need to do, even if it is as simple as confirming what size plugs you have.

I don't remember seeing this mentioned in the thread, but, as will ALL aluminum heads, you really want it to be dead cold before removing or installing plugs (or really anything that is threaded into the block). Letting it sit overnight is nice if you can do it.

I know several people (who know better) that have ended up having to pull heads and repair the plug threads because they were trying to get away with a quick change at the track without letting the car cool all the way.

Oh why does LR make changing just spark plugs and wires sooo hard?!?
And why does magnecor wires are soo pricey.

Still, can't wait to attempt this myself. Its shocking to hear dealers charging $500 to $750 to change plugs and wires. That's insane. I wonder how much does Jiffy Lube or CarX charges?

Then again, I'd rather do it myself and not have others touch the truck.

Oh yeah, where do you recommend in purchasing these Magnecor wires? Atlantic British only carries the 7mm. And what color are they? I've been seeing them in red, blue and black? Don't want to get the wrong ones.

Ok so I did it thanks to Mike!! I appreciate the walkthru!!
Also I had a issue which I dont know if it has happened to anyone else who changed their plugs, but I found out a way to fix it. This took me 45 minutes to figure out!!
Ok so I broke off the connector inside the plug pack!! plug number 8..
after 45 minutes I came up with this
http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/v...p/IMG_1489.jpg
I cut a pencil to about 1.5 inches, shoved it into the busted connector and then gently pulled!!! Cannot believe it worked!!!
I hope this helps out anyone else!!

Magnecors are not expensive, go to the dealer and buy a lessore quality wires for $25 tp $34 for single wire.
Why would you ever have anyone, like Jiffy Lube touch your truck????????????

Disco Mike, that is what I was questioning on my original post. I will never have them touch the truck, never.

My only question is: Is it easier then just removing the IM and having good access to run all the wires? How much time should that job reasonably take to complete and are there any other costs besides a IM gasket?

Just wondering.
2001 DII no secondary air. i pulled the IM to change the wires last friday. used magnacore 7mm. 2.5 hours. start to finish. it was a lot easier that i thought it would be.

My DII has been dealer maintained by the previous owner. when I went to remove the 4 bolts holdiing the coil packs to the engine i notced the upper bolts which attach the bracket to the IM were missing and that the bracket was bent back slightly. Land rover left them out and customized the bracket so it wasnt in the way.

I left it that way. I was going to try doing it without removing the IM as per these instructions, but when I looked at it I did what i thought was easiest.

The gasket was all i need to buy besides the wires.

The rave instructions were good.

Magnecor wires came in.

Do we need to unplug the battery to do the job? Somewhere in the RaveCD said to "Disconnect the battery earth lead"
