This was great - I used this + a wiring diagram and just finished the job.

Cheers

Cleaning the MAF will kill it over the next week or so. Never clean a Newer Bosch MAF, the heat element fails and you get to buy a new $200 plus replacement.

Mike I sure wish I knew that be for I did it! I bought this stuff call mass air flow cleaner it said it was safe to do: it's something like contact cleaner. Maybe I should go ahead and order a new mass air flow sensor to be ready when the bomb fall? Will let you know what happens. Thanks again!

Thank you for the instructions, completed yesterday on 04 DII.

Couple of thoughts..

1. Not sure if in step 4 the tube is supposed to come completely free, after messing with it for a bit I left it where it was (disconnected per instructions) and just moved it out of the way depending on which wire was being worked on.

2. Its helpful to have the degree of bend on the screwdriver per the picture, especially on the bottom row of the coil. Also helpful to have a longer screwdriver.

3. Not the most fun job, but with some serious patience it wasn't too bad.

4. With a printed copy of the coil diagram and instructions sitting next to you, its pretty hard to mess up the wiring order. I put all four lower coil end wires back on first to have more room, then the top row.

Thanks again for taking the time to create this.

I cleaned the MAF over 1500 miles ago and no problems with it yet although I bought a new one thinking it would only last a week or so after cleaning with MAF cleaner. Is this unusual? I'm just lucky I mean I really sprayed the whole can of cleaner cleaning it. What do you think.

Thumbs up Thanks

After reading the post, ordered wires and followed your instructions plus the wire diagram. Took me about two hours. Truck runs great, no misses. Dealership had wanted $650 to do this job. Wires cost me around $129. Plugs I had done 4000 miles ago. Great site and I appreciate the great technical advice.
