Replacing the CV Joint
Hi all,
Does anyone have a tutorial on removing and replacing a CV joint on a Disco 1?
I'm getting to do mine and just wanted to do it right. I need to know were to add the grease to CV and seals and how to add grease to shaft. Any help would be great!

The shop manual covers it.

Basically:
Jack it up and place axle stands under the axle.
Remove the wheel
Remove the hub
Remove the stub axle
Pull out the axle shaft/CV unit
A couple "tips", switch to the RTC3511 hub seals. Go ahead and replace the stub axle oil seal as well.

In the process, order 2 packs of Rovers up-dated swivel grease and all the seals, maybe bearing, for both front swivels. Service is important on these and when finishing up make sure you set the preload on both sides.
Since you are doing that, service both diffs and the t/case just to get them current.

There's no requirement to even touch the swivel bearings to replace the CV or front half shafts.
Luky, if your steering is ok and you don't get steering wobble when hitting bumps, I'd leave the swivel preload set to what it is. Replacing the CV's won't affect it.
