RPM drop at idle
Hi,
I have an 01 D2 156k miles. Lately there has been a slight mis at idle when in drive.
No pending codes.
Update. Ran 2 bottles of techron through the tank and drove it about 200 miles. seemed to improve it for a few days and then it really started running like crap. started missing pretty badly while driving and ended up throwing a few codes. p0304 (misfire cylinder 4) and p0150/p0152 o2 sensor bank2 sensor 1.
i have record of previous owner putting plugs in it about 25k-30k miles ago using NGK V-Power plugs when the head gaskets were done. I know a lot of people recommend only using the OEM Champion plugs, however up until this point it ran beautifully.
Any thoughts? it is sitting at the local LR indie shop but they won't be able to get to it for a few days.

I have become the consummate "throw parts at it" guy, because I have so many parts I don't need (or won't need, if you know what I mean and I KNOW YOU DO!). If anything acts up and doesn't have a clear cause, I swap an MAF in first because it is the easiest thing. Sort of like aspirin--it cures so many things. I found two new MAF's in their boxes a couple of days ago... forgot I had them. Luckily, they don't have an expiration date.
But you are right; swapping the wires of equal lengths from one side to the other would be a quick way to figure out if it is a wire issue.

The mis-fire code for a single cylinder points more to an item like a plug wire than a mass air flow sensor, in my mind. (I would expect multiple or random mis-fires were the problem a MAF.)
While swapping wires is a no-parts-cost way to test, Auto Value ignition wires (made by Standard Ignition) are readily available where I live and relatively inexpensive. About $30 for the set
