Runaway Rover... throttle sticK?
96 D1, 5speed
My truck has been idling really sporadically and high (between 1100 and 2000rpms, up and down), and it feels like its putting extra throttle on all the time.
It accelerates a lot harder on the highway, and if I just put it in 1st it will act as though i'm pushing the gas... not aggressively, but it's definetley pulling.
I replaced the IACV and cleaned the TB and behavior is the same.
I showed my mechanic, he said he "didn't see any vacuum leaks" (didnt think you COULD see vacuum leaks?) and that the culprit was probably the IACV (this was before I replaced it)
This happens regardless of temperature, hot from a 3 hour drive or cold from sitting out all night.
thoughts?

Did you have the new IACV reset by the dealer?
If the gas pedal is hard to push down then it sounds like a bad throttle cable, it may have chaffed inside the casing and be stuck part way open.
Unhook it from the throttle and see how it idles then.

pedal feels normal... haven't had the valve reset, not sure if there even is a Land Rover dealer in Vermont to be honest
Yes the TPS could be bad.
You can start the truck, loosen the TPS screws just a turn and then gently tap the TPS one way or the other and your idle will either go up or down.
It will only take a slight tap from the handle of your screw driver.
