Default Running board got to go...

I got my 2004 Discovery a couple months back and decided I would take off those running boards to prep for bigger tires and some off road driving. I went to take them off thinking it would be easy just a few bolts. True but the nuts were rusted on and took forever to get off. Anyways I got them off and was wondering about these brackets that they were connected to. Is there anyway to take them off or do I jut leave them on? They have a bolt that is able to be removed but the outer end looks more complicated. Can anyone help guide me in what should be done about the brackets?

The nut that meets with the frame body mount(vertical) is a 15mm nut and you have to hole the top of the bolt with a 13mm open end wrench.

Not hard to get off.

These things look a million times better without those stupid running boards. Good call man!

Ok so I took that bracket off and now there is this bolt hanging down. Does this part stay sticking down or is there more to do?

You got you some tricky after market brackets there!

I think you can back the bolt/post off, but you have the hold the bolt head at the top of the frame with a 13mm. Reach up over the body frame brackets and you will feel the 13mm I am talking about. Hold that in place and unscrew your bolt/post contraption

Put a wrench on what you're calling the "long bolt" and remove it. It unscrews. I can see why you call it a long bolt but I'd call it an extension. Whatever.
