salvage value on a '99 D2- parts needed anyone?
Looks like the insurance company is going to declare my '99 D2 a total loss today. I believe if they let me keep it then they will deduct $1500 approx. from my check.
It has 120k miles. Good shape (new brakes, steers straight, no big issuesother than a slowly leaking head gasket to the outside and leaky valve covers) minus the recent cosmetic damage. It was a low speed accident on an icy hill, resulting in the front fenders being crinkeled, along with some damage to most doors and right side rear quarter. Front bumper also cracked, entire rear is still perfect. Hood undamaged. Stil runs fine, and all doors open and shut good. Black with tan leather interior, Harmon Kardon sounds, HDC, SD7 with recent coil spring conversion, new radiator.
What do you guys think? Keep it for $1500 (a quality body shop quoted a $5300 price tag minus any poss. mechanical damage- ouch!) or part it out to those on the forum? I can drive it but it looks like ****- and I want to keep Land Rovers looking good in the hood.
Any takers for the engine and everything else? Now you know my price so please be fair, I could stand to make a few bucks as this accident has been a real hassle. I'm in the Los Angeles area.

HELP!! The insurance company wants a desicion by tommorrow morning now. They upped the price- I will pay $1800 to keep the D2. I'm sorry I dont have pics of the damage, but hopefully my description above gives a general idea.
If I part it out, I'm sorry guys but I don't have great mechanical knowledge nor time to wrench all the parts out and then to ship them. Anyone who wants say my engine and will come to Los Angeles (Redondo Beach) to pick it out, for example?

If you're buying it back with the plans to fix it, forget it. Just get rid of it and buy a new one.
If you want to part it out, which will most likely return more than $1800 at the cost of YOUR labor to remove it, ship it, etc., then buy it back.
