I just finished installing the CDL linkage and all on my Disco, and rather than replace the transmission tunnel plate with rivets (as were used by the factory), I instead went to Napa and Home Depot and got these to use instead. Way better since the plate can be removed if needed on the road.
Many of us just use sheet metal screws. Even easier.
Maybe easier but I don't think necessarily better. If the solenoid is stuck and I have to reach under the car, over the transmission to tap it back into place, I eliminate the risk of cutting my hand on the pointy screw bottoms. Also, I know this is just me being me, but I prefer the cleaner install appearance. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
