yes, the switch can turn the flashers on, it depends on settings in the BCU.

That's why I ventured the inertia switch idea in the first place: my flashers DO come on when the switch is tripped.

If there is any question regarding the switch acting up, by-pass it with a jumper wire and see what happens.
Usually the inertia with will fail after being tripped a couple of times.
