Default Seized calipers?

I was driving my 03 Disco this weekend and started smelling this awful plasticky smell (similar to a clutch burning) and when I pulled over both my rear wheels had excessive heat from them. Smelled horrible. upon further inspection behind the coupling into the rear axle, looks like something has been leaking too.

anyone with a similar situation like this? how did they go about it?

Experienced that, too. Replaced the caliper and its replacement failed in a week, covered by warranty. Been OK last 8 years since.

Yep. Frozen caliper. Every truck I've owned has done that to me. You can try pulling it apart and rebuilding it, greasing the guide pins, etc, but the national parts houses have the rears for about $50 a pop.

Also just had one lock up a few weeks ago. Dealt with this a ton. If you really wanna DIY it, I just did a write up on rebuilding your caliper(s).

Otherwise, reman calipers are pretty readily available.
