Default Serpentine belt squeak...

A word of warning.

After installing a new serpentine belt my AC unit squeaked really bad... it was hot out, after dusk and I was already tired so I went inside.

But today after an of hour of diagnosing this I determined.. the driver side belt was twisty side down vs twisty side up.. which gave about 3" more pulley distance on the AC belt.

It fits both ways on the serpentine loop for the driver side.

Humorous but I thought I would pass it on.

You are not alone my friend.

I got lost somewhere in the "twisty side down vs. twisty side up" .
I think the OP means the belt was routed incorrectly. Or maybe we will never know.

If you do your research before you start, it's less likely that you'll get it wrong (and less likely that you'll over-strain the bearings on your AC pump, steering pump, alternator, etc.).

Oh with 190K miles I have done this many times... and I have many cars, but it's odd on that on the non-ACE version you can actually feed the belt both ways. The ACE version is the over the top with the twisty on the bottom, the non-ACE version is over the bottom twisty through the idler.

The squeak is caused the lack of belt area with the difference between the two.
