service engine light on

RE: service engine light on
the pump is on the pass side of the engine bay mounted near the firewall. its about 6in round. there is black plastic tube that runs along the firewall and splits behind the motor and goes to each of the AIR manifilds, bolted directly to the exhaust manifolds. These AIR manifolds have a vacuum operated valve at the top of them, just above the valve covers. There is a 90 degree rubber vacuum fitting on both of them, with a small black plastic vacuum line running into the mix of other black lines around the intake. to be honest i dotn know if there is a solenoid that vary's the amount of vacuum that is applied to the AIR manifold valve but im sure they route to the vacuum reservior thats mounted in the intake tube just after the mass air flow meter. Not sure what the code means but i would guess it either has to do with the pump operation or the valves operating correctly.

listen for the pump to run when you first fire the truck up, i can hear mine very well for the first 45 secs or run time. if you have a vacuum pump id try pulling vacuum on the lines and the valves themselves, if not try blowing through them and look for obvious breaks. ill ponder more over night and tom ill take a look at mine and see if something strikes me.

the codes mean the sai system isnt working at all. the car reads this by the downstream o2 sensor readings when its activated. it is usually just the vacuum harness popping off of the reservoir like ryan said. follow the small black plastic lines closely, they connect at each valve, at the pass. front side of the upper intake, on both sides of the reservoir, and also at the control valve behind the throttle body. if all connections are good, youre most likely looking at a bad control solenoid (the one behind the throttle) or a bad pump. most of the other issues with the system wont throw faults for both banks at once.

just went out andlooked at it,Pump was working , i pulled the lines of the black canister and there was vacuum , put them back on , check the vacuum lines going into the valces on the manifolds , seem to have vacuum , any other Ideas ? Iam thinking it will need to go to the mechanic .
