Well earth people, I got lucky for a change. Code turned out to be #4 cylinder misfire. I lifted the "bonnet", as they say in Rome, and was going to check #4 spark plug for a foul. As soon as I went to pull the ignition wire I found the problem. There was no "pin retention" as they also say in Rome. I have never been there but I hear about the things they say. Anyways I cleaned the boot and connector with a blast of brake cleaner, blew it dry, crimped it a little and snap it back on the plug. SES was out at turn on, been gone ever since and the truck passed emissions and inspection. She needs a good tune up, but I bought some time 'til it warms up a bit. I just love a good ending.
