the DIs have a check engine light and a service engine light, as I recall. The check engine light indicates something going on with your engine or related systems, get the codes read asap and figure out what set off the code. The service engine light on the DI is a reminder to have the emission button reset. The reset button is on the passenger side either behind the glove box or just under it. Check the threads you will find the info. You need to find the small metal box, peel the sticker back and reset the button using a small pen , toothpick or something similar. The light comes on at around 85k miles as I recall. Takes about 15 minutes to get it done. Good luck. Phil

Well earth people, I got lucky for a change. Code turned out to be #4 cylinder misfire. I lifted the "bonnet", as they say in Rome, and was going to check #4 spark plug for a foul. As soon as I went to pull the ignition wire I found the problem. There was no "pin retention" as they also say in Rome. I have never been there but I hear about the things they say. Anyways I cleaned the boot and connector with a blast of brake cleaner, blew it dry, crimped it a little and snap it back on the plug. SES was out at turn on, been gone ever since and the truck passed emissions and inspection. She needs a good tune up, but I bought some time 'til it warms up a bit. I just love a good ending.
