Default service engine soon light

Hello, I've had a service engine light on for a couple of weeks. My 2004 Discovery II has 73,000 miles on it. Nothing appears wrong with it. Is there anything that I need to look into here or is it just a service reminder. Since I've been changing oil, etc. myself, is there a way to turn it off?

Thanks
Reza

You need to have it scanned and see what the error codes are. Could be many things.
Go to an Autozone, etc. and ask them to scan and give you the codes. Then report back.

ok. the scan says ECM has detected a large leak in the EVAP system.
probable causes:

loose or defective fuel cap.....(checked fine).
Evap cannister broke, hose cracked or not connected.
Purge or vent solenoid defective
vacuum leak at engine

Where do you guys think I should start?

A defective purge valve is one of the more common causes. I had replaced one a few months ago for around $70.

Had that code.
I took off the gas cap and put it on again.
Cleared the code with the OBD-II scanner.

Code never came back.
Was a 2001 with about 106,000 miles on it.
