Service Engine Soon light and corresponding codes; diagnostic help requested
ORIGINAL: cgee
Mike,
British Atlantic only carries 7 mm Magnedor's for that model. Are they adequate or should I search elsewhere for the 8 mm's?
Do you have a suggestion for plugs? The manual calls for Champion RC11PYPB4.
Also, is it really required to remove the intake manifold to replace the plug wires?
Thanks,
Calvin

As for plugs, Champions are good, my choice though is the Bosch Platinum Plus 4's for more low end power.
Call Tony at 650-365-41245 for a decent price on the wires.
tacomatech,
I checked the intake for leaks as described and it did not not bog down? Based on that would you replace the O2 sensores or just start with the plugs and wires?
Thanks

I recently did the intake on a 2003 Disco II and was unable to find a leak by smoke testing, water testing, or aritificial enrichment via throttle body cleaner as a described. The cyl. 4 and cyl. 6 plug wires were bad as well as when I did R&R the intake manifold gasket I found the intake bolts were a little more than hand-tight. This torqueing condition is common on lower mileage engines, but that is not to say that they haven't relaxed after previous repairs either. You could start with plugs and wires as they are probably needed due to mileage and go from there.
