Default shifting

Anyone know how to get my truck to hold 1st gear a little longer? It shifts to second at 10 MPH no matter how hard I hammer it. When I shift it up manually, it feels like it should hold till15 to 20 at least. Any ideas?

It is a 97 SD7 Disco 1 with 140K miles. The ABS light is on, haven't had the codes read, and it is due for a filter & fluid change. The fluid has a good color, but mileage calls for a filter change. I do have a leak in the left hand manifold, and the left cat is rattling. Is is a low rattle, so the membrane is just loose and not shattered. I am waiting on enough cash to replace the manifold and have Magnaflow cats welded in. I even have an appoinment for the welds in three weeks.

The shifting thing would make my truck feel a lot better. Feels like a dog at 20 with the air on...

Thanks!

Jason

You might talk with a tranny shop. Your tranny is mechanical shifted and may be able to have it reset for you.
Also, buy a bottle of Lucas trannt additive for your next service, this will free up any stuck valve body parts.

ok, Thanks Mike. I might just let them do the service and save myself some heartache.

1 more question, if you get this. If I engage the diff-Lock, it is only for low range? It hops like it is trying to change gears, but the tach still runs high. This might sound weird, but it feels like the rear shart is shifiting with the tranny, and the front shaft is direct drive. It might just be me not being used to it. I am a nervous nelly, and want to have everything running perfect..Thanks again!
