Shuttle Valve Code
Well I finally got the recurring 3 amigos coming on every time I run the Discovery, so I had the code read and it's the shuttle valve. I'mgoing to take it in for the shuttle valve repair kit next week and I'll let you know how it goes. I'm going to have it running up and down the NC sandy beaches doing some surf fishing next month and I hope to have this little annoyance remedied before then.
Who read the code and exactly what code number did they find?
If you go do a panic stop from 30 MPH, can you feel the ABS pulsating thru the brake pedal?
Which of the 2 shuttle valve kits are they talking about installing and what was the estimate for the replacement?

Hey, Mike. I've used the same independant Rover mechanic since I bought the Disco 2 1/2 years ago, and that's who read the code. He was the Asheville NC dealership's top service guy before going independant and he has all the diagnostic software, etc. That being said, I don't know the actual code that was read. He did tell me that there was a kit available at first that consisted of just the switch, and that although cheap, it didn't really work in many cases. He's recommending the newer kit that is more comprehensive, but more pricey. That's alright with me because I want it fixed right the first time. He gave me a handshake estimate ofless than a thousand for parts and labor.
Oh, and the panic stop? Just to be sure I'll get on some gravel tomorrow, drive really fast, and slam on the brakes and let you know what happened. Sounds like fun.

Keep us posted on how the fix goes. I will be having the same thing done to my 2000 DII. I think I will also go with the more comprehensive kit. I don't want to pay for labor twice and for a kit that did not work. What do you use all the antennas for?

I did a little wheeling this weekend and my TC refused to work. Of course the next day it worked like a champ and the ABS continues to function. There must be a ghost in my Rover.

Well I got it back today and drove it home about 20 miles with no lights appearing on the dash. That's a great improvement from before, since I barely made it a couple of blocks without the 3 lights of doom making themselves known with those dreaded 3 death chimes. I paid about a grand for parts and labor, which is fine if it works. I'll keep you posted on how it's going, just in case anybody else is considering the same fix.
I am sure it has. I have installed many of these kits and have not seen any of them return. The only piece that is not replaced when doing this kit is the fluid passages, all electrical parts are replaced(solenoid pack and switches).
