Silicone Hose Retrofit? (at least upper? she's.. swelling :o )
Maybe I'm losing my mind, but I thought I made a thread the other day about this?
...anyways. The Samco Sport site (UK) has the older rover models and TD5 hose kits, but nothing for the newer RV8.
Can people chime in on how their hoses failed in the past, so I can get a better idea of what I need to replace? I'm going to the parents' beach house for Christmas (1000 mile round trip) and honestly, the hose that comes out of the "T" and around the alternator is at its' limits. I have about ~2mm of play before it contacts the alternator pulley.
So - something needs to be done before that road trip, HOWEVER the high is 28 today with a wind chill of 6, so I'd rather not replace all the hoses right now!
Am I right to think I can replace that upper hose without losing a LOT of coolant?
I'm thinking about buying a "U bend" silicone hose from Samco, and cutting it so that it ends up having the correct radius to replace that hose. When I do the tstat I'll replace the remainder of the hoses, if possible.
Does anyone know the ID of the DII hoses off hand?
Thanks!
