Slight coolant leak

Ok I confirmed yesterday that its 99% sure coming from the spot in the picture. Looks like this is common. Obviously, I’m going to need to replace that gasket. It will get a new water pump as well. Gonna have to be a Spring project.

I put wrench on the three bolts within the red circle in that pic. Got some decent movement in the one in the center, where the leak is actually coming from, and the leak stopped over night. It is n longer wet around the area as well. So I hope this is a temporary fix and I’m going to watch it until Spring.

I also found that this has just started on my 03. Tightened down the same 3 bolts and leak immediately stopped.

A few bolts go into the water jacket so tightening them usually can fix a leak in that area. If it leaks again = replace gasket.

Thanks! I found the exact same thing on the 03 while I was underneath it yesterday. It was a much slower leak, the gasket is of a different material and it looks a lot “healthier” than the one on my 04. So we’ll see how that one holds up.

If it leaks again, remove bolts, wrap with pipe tape, reinstall.
