RE: Smashed front driver's side window
Sorry to hear about the damages, you might want to drive to some of the "bad part" of town and look for some car window repair places, I've found they will usually get the windows from a junk yard (with an OEM window) and install them and if they accept "cash" only, you may get a better discount versus using a credit card.
Best of all, much cheaper than paying the deductible.
I've had my Jeep Grand Cherokee, Acura Integras, and other friend's windows or windshields (Lexus, BMW's) replaced from $75 to $155, fully installed-professionally, out the door price, again, OEM parts since it's from the wrecking yards.
If you're down in the LA area, they're located in the Van Nuys or Sun Valley, CA area.
G/L with the repairs.

You can opt to just get the money. If your claim is $1000 and your deductable is $500 you can tell them that you will get it fixed/replaced yourself and they will cut you a check for $500.
My first wife backed out of our garage with the back drivers side door open on our brand new $35,000 Montero and knocked down half of the garage.
Home owners was $500 deduct and auto $250, and yes they made two claims. We took the $3500 check and fixed it ourselves for $1000. The trk just needed touch-up paint and the door re-ajusted so it would close properly.99.5% of the damage was to the garage. And we dropped Allstate a week later, after 10 yrs of being a loyal customer, with life ins and home and auto they wouldnt cut me a deal on my claims so they were gone.
Are you a no-fault state?

I'm a gadget nut and I have a TomTom GPS as well as a high end radar detector. I routinely remove them ifI am in an unsecure place such as a public lot (my own home has a gated driveway and the garage is locked).
I read an article at the BBC website at Christmas that said GPS thefts were so high in England that the police suggested not only removing them when parking but also cleaning the glass so theives could not see the mark of the suction cup, many breakins were occuring because of that and the GPS was not even in the car!
