In case anyone cares or wants an update, I'm going to be doing the head gasket replacement and seeing if I can pin the slipped liners as well using a few guides on here. I'll be posting pictures and updating as I go through this process. I bought the STC4082 kit with the head bolts off Amazon for ~$85. Should arrive in a few days. I would have rather spent money towards doing an LS swap, but I want to get this back up and running ASAP if I can. Have a few trips planned that it would be nice to bring the rover on.

I'll be starting tomorrow by taking things apart so I have a better idea on what's needed. Wish me luck!

@uhoh_elmo Can I suggest pressure testing the block, hot and cold. As well are you are going to be well into it get the bottom bearings checked.

Some folks on here have done it themselves

I pressure tested before the leak started. Have not done it since. From what I can see, the leak is coming from the drivers side, towards the rear of the head gasket. On an obdii reader, I got misfires in cylinder 7 and 5. 5 only popped up once, 7 happened every time I cleared the codes. I believe these correspond to the drivers side rear of the engine so at least that is consistent.

If it's worth doing the bottom bearings, I will. Have not seen that here before so I'll look into it.

Also, does it make sense to try one of those liquid sealers before I do the gasket job?

@uhoh_elmo no to the sealer they tend to create more problems than the fix.

@UKLR$ you won't get much sympathy in this sub-forum, this sub-forum is 4 D2s and we never had any coolant level indication on these vehicles, you busted a hose or cracked the tank and it started leaking coolant you didn't know until the temperature the gauge was already telling you you needed a new engine

Mind posting a link for the kit? Based on some things that are starting to happen with my Disco I am about to go down this road. Not nearly as far along as you, but starting. Also, how is the work going???
