Question Sometimes does not unlock with fob

So i have noticed that sometimes my disco 2 will not unlock with the fob. It seems to happen if it has been locked for a day or so. It will unlock just fine if i use the key in the door. If right after i unlock the door with the key, then relock the car with the fob it will unlock just fine with the fob. It seems to happen with both the normal lock and with the "super" lock engaged. Anyone else have this issue? I looked through the forums and have not found an exact answer. It is not a huge issue just sort of irks me. Does it have something to do with the security system? If so, is there anyway to change it?

Default batteries

Have you tried changing the batteries in the FOB? My daughter had the same problem and when we replaced the batteries it went away. Give it a try as it's cheap..

Good Luck, Chris

I have not tried that, didn't even think to change the battery to be honest. Does the fob have to be reprogrammed when you change the battery?

no it does not have to be reprogramed, but you need 2 batteries. Go to home depot they should have them. use a key or large flat screw driver to open. Be patient. Takes a couple minutes..

Good luck... Chris

It is not a battery issue. New batteries don't make the FOB send a stronger signal to force the lock to move.
This is a common problem when the lock actuator starts to fail, usually showing up when it is cold and or when it has not been unlocked for a day or so and after being open once then it is fine till it get cold or sits again.

Some have tried to lube them, probably has helped some but most need to be replaced.
That being said, my l/r door lock has been that way for at least 5 years, never gets any worse except when cold and as long as I hid the FOB twice it always opens.
