Thanks everyone for the input advice! Looks like I'm gonna order up the beefier spare tire bracket from Devon 4x4. Seems like a good choice and the bracket isn't too badly priced!

Good idea! From my experience, the stock bracket is made with cheap, brittle metal.

I'm running 33's and had the stock bracket flipped upside down. After running washboard roads along the Mojave Road and Death Valley, two (2) of the three (3) wheel studs cracked at the base.

I fixed it by having a 1/4" plate welded to cover and reinforce the wheel studs. Cost $110. However, after more washboard road trips throughout Death Valley, the stock tire mount started to crack around the holes where it's bolted to the door.

I was going to reinforce the bolt holes but fortunately Lucky8 had a Black Friday sale on the Devon 4x4 bracket so I jumped on it. Been using it for ~7 years without any issues. I've been making 6-8 trips to DV each year so it's been working great!
