Default Are special seal tools needed?

OK, I'm going to replace all the seals on a used motor going into my '03 Disco. Reading through RAVE, I've come up with a list of the following specialty tools necessary for the job:

1. LRT-12-090: To align the woodruff key for timing gear cover
2. LRT-12-080: To remove the crank pulley
3. LRT-12-088: To remove the front seal
4. LRT-12-089: To install the front seal
5. LRT-12-095: To align the real seal
6. LRT-12-091: To install the rear seal
7. LRT-99-003: Also to install the rear seal

Are all of these necessary, or can the seals be carefully tapped into place? If the tools are needed, how do you get them? A quick search of the first tool came up with a $400 price tag!!

A seal is a seal, thats why we club them.

Yes those tools would make it easier, but they are not needed.

you don't need them. if you had the money to buy all those tools to make it easier im sure you would not be doing the work yourself.

The one tool that would make the front cover job so much easier is the tool to align the woodruff key to the timing cover. That was annoying.

Yes set both the woodruff key and the slot in the timing cover to TDC makes it easier. I cannot think of any LR tool that you really need.
