I'm getting about 190 to 220 a tank, but I usually fill up with about 2 to 5 gallons left, and I use sport mode on the highway especially going from one side of the island to the other, I can really notice it going uphill.

I am running 265/75/R16, with an ARB bumper, so not really surprised to get about 10 MPG, but I also don't drive on the highway at all to go to work.

I'm guessing with the newer D2's, the Sport Mode will stay on, our '04 stays on once it's engaged. The '99 goes off once the engine is shut off. Not sure what year that changed. Since someone said their '02 stays on, my guess is 2000 or 2001 they made the switch.

My '99 has a momentary switch and always starts in regular mode. Is the mode switch on newer models a toggle switch or would it have to be a difference in the electronics explaining the behavior?

I have decided to perform this "sport mode only" test, as I track my gas mileage with every fill up and rarely deviate driving distances. With 98% city driving, I was getting 13.11 MPG at last fill up. Leaving the station I activated sport mode, and have left it on since.

My 2000, built in Jan of 2000 does not reset the mode after a key cycle. I engaged sport mode on the 8th, and it is still on.

Filled up tonight at the only station I use (close to home, Phillips 66, and I have gotten to know the staff) at slightly less than 1/2 tank. Running sport mode since I refilled last, new MPG is 13.41. .30MPG better than when not in sport mode. Driving might have differed slightly since last fill up, so I am going to drive a few more weeks before reaching a decision.

Tried this out, had a nearly empty tank, and have gotten surprisingly good results. I'm just a tad under half and I have traveled 137 miles. Which means I will probably end up somewhere in the area of 250 if it keeps up... about 20 miles better than my normal usage.
