Sport mode question

Sport mode prolongs time between shifts, I.e. keeps it in a lower gear further up the power band, and forces it to downshift at a lower load / speed than normal driving mode. This is basically what every tuner with a "tow mode" does for every automatic truck / suv since handheld tuners became a thing.
For highway driving it shouldn't make any difference on performance, but in town or hilly areas you will benefit from the longer shift intervals, as long as you don't overheat the tranny, or engine. on most vehicles with in shape cooling systems, overheating on uphill pulls with sustained revves wouldn't even cross my mind, on a D2, I would keep and eagle eye on the ultragauge.
